  Miami Moves on from Pair of Relievers SAAA Anthony Bass|ESPN.com Zach Pop|ESPN.com Jordan Groshans|MLB.com While many people who follow the Miami Marlins have been on edge about what direction the team wishes to move in. Amid the team’s recent offensive struggles, a number of key pieces have had rumors swirling around them. Around Major League Baseball, the general consensus was that the Marlins would sell high on certain proven players, such as starting pitcher Pablo Lopez and infielder/designated hitter Garrett Cooper. In reality, the Marlins actually completed just a single trade. They sent setup relief pitcher Anthony Bass to the Toronto Blue Jays. Fellow reliever Zach Pop and a player to be named later also go to Canada. In return, Toronto shipped infield prospect Jordan Groshans down south. Sports Illustrated.  Rebuilding Process Lingers Far Too Long for Fan Base The Marlins’ lack of any consistent success has long alienated South Florida baseball fanatics. We have seen more than enough of the same disappointing storyline. It’s time to take the next step, and really aim to beef up the Marlins roster. Coming into 2022, the front office did make some decent moves, such as signing free-agent outfielders Avisail Garcia and Jorge Soler to multi-year deals. Neither proven veteran has reached expectations this season, despite both having good track records, but they failed to reach expectations this season. Coming off a World Series MVP in 2021, Soler started this season hot, but eventually cooled off. Even further, he has spent significant time on the Injured List. After a disappointing past couple of seasons, team management and current manager  Don Mattingly  reached a mutual agreement that he would not return after a seven-year run in South Florida. Having accumulated a cumulative win-loss record of 439-586, the man long-known as “Donnie Baseball” currently stands as the winningest manager in franchise history, as well as having managed the most games overall. Shocked is a good way to describe how Marlins faithful felt when now-former CEO  Derek Jeter  resigned prior to this season.
